Successful Completion of Two-Day Training of Trainers for Farmer Groups Profiling under UCSATP in Apac District

Apac District, Uganda – The Apac District Local Government (DLG), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), has successfully concluded a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for key stakeholders involved in farmer groups profiling under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP).

The training, which took place from 15th to 16th July 2025 at the District Council Hall, brought together Principal Officers in the Production Department, Agricultural Officers, and Community Development Officers from across the district. The aim was to equip trainers with the knowledge and tools required to effectively guide the profiling and digitization of farmer groups—a foundational step towards delivering climate-smart agricultural services to farming communities.

During the closing ceremony, the Ag. Chief Administrative Officer of Apac, Mr. Muboki Paul, commended the participants for their commitment and emphasized the importance of accurate data in enhancing planning and implementation of government agricultural interventions.

"With this training, we are now better positioned to roll out farmer profiling and ensure that our farmers benefit from targeted support under UCSATP," he stated.

The UCSATP, funded by the World Bank and implemented by MAAIF, aims to enhance productivity, build climate resilience, and promote sustainable livelihoods among smallholder farmers through digital solutions and improved extension services.

The trained personnel are expected by the close of a week to cascade the knowledge and spearhead the profiling of farmer groups at parish and community levels, thereby contributing to a robust farmer database critical for the success of UCSATP and other agriculture-focused programs.

Apac DLG remains committed to strengthening community capacity and supporting initiatives that transform agriculture and improve livelihoods in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040.
