Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Launches Three-Day Health Camp at Atar HC II in Apac District
Apac District, Uganda – The Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has officially launched a three-day health camp at Atar Health Centre II in Apac District. The outreach, which commenced on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025, aims to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities in hard-to-reach and underserved areas.
The health camp is providing a wide range of free medical services, including general medical consultations, prostate & breast cancer screening, eye care checkups, and many others.
In her remarks, Dr. Aceng emphasized the importance of community-based healthcare interventions in improving health outcomes, particularly in rural areas.
“This health camp is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure equitable access to healthcare services for all Ugandans. No one should be left behind,” she stated.
Hundreds of residents turned up on the first day to benefit from the services. The camp is also being supported by the Indian Women Association together with local health workers, medical volunteers, and development partners.
The initiative is expected to serve over 2,000 people by the end of the three days and will include health education sessions aimed at promoting hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care practices.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Apac District Local Government, continues to prioritize efforts that strengthen the delivery of primary healthcare and foster resilient communities.
