Construction of Atopi – Anyapo – Ayeng Road Excites Residents

Residents of Atopi, Anyapo and Ayeng are pleased and excited as the construction of Atopi-Anyapo-Ayeng continues, promising to transform connectivity and ease access to essential services in the area.

The project, implemented under the National Oil Seed Project, is valued at Shs 1.2 billion. Construction works kicked off on 26th March 2025, and according to the Project Manager Mr. Asiimwe Wilbert, progress now stands at 12% and planned progress for next month is 25%.

The scope of work includes opening a 12.79-kilometre road stretch connecting the villages of Atopi, Anyapo and Ayeng, grading and shaping the road, and installing concrete pipe culverts.

Community Members have expressed optimism about the impact of the project. They hailed the progress and praised the contractor, Don Mo Construction Ltd, for being cooperative and responsive.

“The road will greatly ease access to markets, health centers, and schools,” they said, adding that they have long struggled with poor infrastructure.

Obonyo Geoffrey, Chairperson LC III Apac Sub County, applauded the quality of work so far but called for faster works in the swamps due to the risks posed by the rainy season coming.

“This project will ease movement across the two Sub Counties of Apoi and Apac once complete. However, he appeal to the contractor to speed up the work for the safety of the people,” he said.

Once fully completed, the road is expected to significantly enhance mobility, trade, and service delivery between the two Sub Counties, marking a major milestone in local infrastructure development.
