Apac hands over the water projects costing over 400m to contractors

In a bid to improve safe water coverage within the District, Apac planned for ten boreholes and a piped water system at a tune of 460, 029, 962 million for the running FY 2024/2025, sites were handed over on 5/5/2025.

The site handover was officiated by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Ms. Joan Apio and Secretary Health and Education Mr. Opira Sam for District Chairperson in the company of the Principal Assistant Secretary Ms. Janet Odongo.

The District Water Engineer, Patrick Okwir said the projects were intended to improve safe water access in the facilities and also community without boreholes since lack of safe water can bring a lot of insecurities to young children and women.

The ten boreholes will cost UGX239, 941,200 million covering most parts of the District and UGX220, 088,762 million for Piped Water Supply System will be installed at Apac Seed Secondary School.

The boreholes are going to be constructed by KLR Construction Company will be in;

-          Apoi Central, Apoi Parish, Apoi Sub County

-          Kawempe, Alaro Parish, Apoi Sub County

-          Aminkec ‘B’, Adem Parish, Chegere Sub County

-          Atek ‘A’, Adem Parish, Chegere Sub County

-          Adula ‘A’, Teboke Parish, Teboke Sub County

-          Ololango Annex, Agong Parish, Teboke Sub County

-          Alenga Annex, Tarogali Parish, Ibuje Sub County

-          Alworoceng PS, Alworoceng Parish, Ibuje Sub County

-          Atakara, Atopi Parish, Apac Sub County

-          Angu, Awila Parish, Akokoro Sub COunty

The Principal Assistant Secretary, Ms. Jannet Odongo called for cooperation from community members with contractors, accept the facility and own it because after commissioning will belong to them not Apac District. She urged them to always appreciate Government programmes like PDM, EMYOOGA and others.

The Secretary Health and Education, Mr. Opira Sam emphasized to the contractors to work within the stipulated time and do quality work. He appreciated the community of Agong for accepting the school and water.

The DRDC, Ms. Joan Apio applauded Apac District Leadership for always implementing government programs and added that government would continue giving services to the people. She said the water sector has no isues as it comes to work because the Engineer always does his job without complaints from beneficiaries.

Apio congratulated and urged Awico Company Ltd to ensure quality work since the piped water system will serve the bigger population in school and community.
