Apac celebrates Independence Day, 2019
Apac Municipal Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Ocan has lauded the former president Milton Obote for liberating Ugandans from the colonial rule in 1962.
While addressing the Independence day Celebrations at Boma Ground, Apac on 9th October 2019, Ocan noted that the late Obote had the courage and zeal to face off with colonials in the struggle to free Uganda from British rule.
He advised Langi tribe to always maintain the good name and reputation of the tribe their son (Obote) had sacrificed his life and time for. He added that Obote has made history which can never be reversed.
Kwania Resident District Commissioner, Salim Komakech cautioned Ugandans against abusing the freedom and independence attained, but rather use it for unity of purpose and development.
Komakech revealed that the government is committed to tarmac Rwekunye-Apac-Lira-Puranga road to ease movements and boost business. He noted that although Youth Livelihood project is being abused by its beneficiaries, women are doing better in UWEP loans.
Among the dignitaries who attended the function were Chief administrative Officer, Michael Wanje, Secretary Education and Health, Tonny Odongo , Richard Ogwang Odyero, RDC Buyende and heads of departments.
