Ninety bicycles were given out to Para-Social workers in Apac District on Thursday 13th July, 2017 as a move to enhance children’s welfare and rights in the area.
BANTWANA an NGO operating in Jinja in conjunction with Aids Information Centre (AIC) Apac donated the bikes to facilitate transport and accessibility to vulnerable children.
In a launch officiated by the District Chairperson Hon. Okae Bob and District Internal Security Officer Mr., the Project Officer Mr. Geoffrey Odwono said that Para-Social workers have been doing a lot of work helping to cater for the welfare of vulnerable children around the communities they live. Bicycles have been given to them to enhance follow up support visits for the vulnerable persons in those communities.
Out of nine sub counties in Apac District; Akokoro, Ibuje and Chawente were chosen to implement the programmes of BANTWANA and each having Para-Social workers receive 30 bicycles.
The District Chairperson Hon. Okae Bob thanked BANTWANA for having chosen Apac to implement their project and urged the Para-Social workers to use the bicycles appropriately as they effect the task ahead of them including their personal works.
On the other side the District Internal Security Officer Mr. Ojuka Fred warned them of abuse and misuse of bicycles which might lead to withdrawal from them.
